Arabic is more than a means of communication. It is the language of the Quran and a key to understanding its meanings, the Sunnah, and the heritage of Islamic scholarship.
ALLAH, The Almighty, says: "Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.” (Quran 12:2)
He also says: "And this is a clear Arabic tongue.” (Quran 16:103). These verses show the close connection between Arabic and the revealed message.
Learning Arabic helps a student read the Quran more accurately, understand vocabulary and context, appreciate its eloquence, and study reliable works of tafsir and hadith more directly. Translation is valuable, but it cannot always convey every shade of meaning carried by the original wording.
Start with the letters and their articulation points, then practise short vowels, long vowels, words, and simple sentences. A few consistent minutes every day, supported by a qualified teacher, can produce steady progress.
Learning Arabic is an honour and a practical path toward reading, understanding, and reflecting on the Quran. It is not necessary to become a specialist in grammar and rhetoric; what matters is beginning with a clear plan and continuing patiently.
